Can You Do This Yourself
If one roller has popped out of the track but the door is still sitting square and the cables look intact, you can sometimes walk it back onto the rail by hand with the opener disconnected.
Loosening bracket to reseat
Loosen the track bracket just enough to widen the gap, guide the roller stem back in, and retighten. What you should not do is try to force a door back onto a bent track, or pull on cables that are under spring tension.
Swinging door under tension
A door that's come off on one side while under tension can swing and drop without warning, and a broken torsion spring under load has enough stored force to break a hand.
Bowed track calls
If the door is hanging at an angle, if a cable is frayed, or if the track itself is visibly bowed rather than just a bracket being loose, stop and call it in. The $96,190 median income here still buys you a service call cheaper than an ER visit.

What It Costs
I don't have a published price list to quote you here, and pretending otherwise would be worse than saying nothing. What I can tell you is how the job gets priced: a bent bracket or a misaligned roller on steel track is a smaller job than a full track replacement, and a full track replacement on a 1980-era door is smaller than replacing an opener and door together.
The honest limitation: if the track is bent in more than one spot, or if this is the second time the same door has come off in a year, patching it usually isn't worth the labor. At that point you're paying twice to delay a replacement you'll end up buying anyway. We'll tell you straight when we're on site whether it's a repair or a replacement call - we don't pad a repair ticket to avoid saying the word.
How to Book
We run the Jurupa Valley off-track calls out of Chino, 11 miles out. That distance doesn't change when we can get to you, but it does mean we're not a storefront around the corner - we're a truck that comes from Chino to your driveway. Book through the Jurupa Valley garage door service page and we'll scope the off-track issue specifically, or if you want the broader service menu for the Chino side of things, that lives on the Chino off-track repair page.
How It Shows Up
On a 1980s-built house, off-track usually announces itself the same way: the door starts grinding or scraping on one side as it opens, then a roller pops visibly out of the rail, and the door hangs crooked instead of sitting flush when it's down.
Quiet dragging out of true
Sometimes it's quieter - the opener still runs, the door still moves, but it's dragging a few inches out of true and nobody notices until a panel starts denting against the frame.
Bent section or stripped bracket
Because most of this stock is steel sectional on roll-formed track rather than older heavier rail, the failure tends to be a bent section of track or a stripped roller bracket rather than a snapped cable.
Motor pulling off-true doors
That's a smaller fix in most cases, but it's also one that gets worse fast if you keep running the opener against a door that's already off true - the motor doesn't know the difference and will keep pulling until something else gives.
Why This Fails Locally
Jurupa Valley's median household income runs $96,190, a bit under the $105,104 median for the wider service area we cover out of Chino. That gap matters here because it sets where the repair-or-replace line actually falls: a $96,190 household budget can absorb a track repair or a roller swap without blinking, but it makes a full door-and-opener replacement a real decision, not an easy upsell.
The houses themselves tell you why tracks go off here in the first place. Most of Jurupa Valley's stock went up around 1980, newer than the 1972 median across the 39 areas we serve from Chino. That later build date usually means steel sectional doors on roll-formed track rather than the older wood doors on heavier gauge rail you see in the 1960s pockets closer to Chino. Roll-formed track is lighter and cheaper to install, and it bends and walks off its rollers more easily when a bracket loosens or a cable stretches unevenly. On a door that age, off-track usually means a bent horizontal rail or a worn roller stem, not a structural failure of the track itself - which is good news for the repair bill.
With 27,132 households in Jurupa Valley, this is a common enough call that it's worth knowing before the door jumps the track rather than after.
